42)Notorious B.I.G – Gimme The Loot

Song: Gimme The Loot

Album: Ready To Die

Year: 1994

Before his life’s story found him at the throne of the rap game, Biggie had the luxury of being an entertainer who sold us a number of character’s on his debut Ready To Die. In one album he was a suicidal lothario who had made a success out of himself as a good battle rapper and now had jealous people trying to take him out, yet somehow he was also a stickup kid on “Gimme The Loot”

Perhaps the album detailed his life’s story in a time capsule, with this song being appropriately sequenced early on. This was hardcore, unapologetic and while Big didnt exactly revolutionize the two voices deal, they made causing public mayhem nearly humorous with all sorts of jokes and punchlines about robbing people (now I have a theory that this song was directly responsible for 50 Cent’s “How To Rob”).  His high pitched “friend” was way too eager to set it off, adding to the already frenetic tone of the piece.
