51)Busta Rhymes – Show Me What You Got

Song: Show Me What You Got

Album: Anarchy

Year:  2000

Commonplace fans and casual listeners wouldn’t know it but Busta Rhymes & Dilla had quite an extensive history, going all the way back to Busta’s debut The Coming. Both distant relatives of A Tribe Called Quest, they made a good solid compilation worth of material together over the years. “Show Me What You Got For Me” was a gem from Anarchy, Busta’s most underrated album to me. Real music nerds geeked out over the Stereolab (?) sample (I need to familiarize myself with them), I just loved how Busta went in on the beat, dancing all over the place, rapping one string of words on the first verse and a bunch of different phrasings on the second verse.

This beat was really that knock too, originally found on the Jaylib bootleg files, enough people have rapped on it by now. But no one else did it justice like this in my opinion, Busta turned something left field and avant-garde into a street anthem here.
